Yes but the AVJ engine code wasn't available in the US. I think you have 150hp.

Well... I guess what ever it is I am happy for the moment ;-) the car is faster than my old one by loads and its a sweet looking set of wheels...

I had a look under the bonnet/hood ;-) for anything that might give me a clue... found a tag with the VIN number on it. The tag also had the following on it... but no idea what its means if anything..

e1 98/14 0151
VIN NUMBER
....set of weights
Typ 8E EU4

Just an after thought....

When I purchased the car I was told it was an A4 1.8 T Sport.... does the Sport mean anything??? I assumed it meant something above a 1.8 T???

sighs......

.... better start saving up for a chip I guess ;-)

OK... after much searching around

its... 2001, 8E... what ever that means. 110KW so 150BHP. has the option Sport Pack... So suspension and 17 inch alloys with 225 45's. Also sport seats, ESP and a Bose sound system and climate control... not sure if that was standard or an option though.

So if I start chipping etc... whats the first step?? Up to 170 BHP??? What would be the max worth while? Any other tweaks to liven her up a bit more??

thanks for the continued input guys!!!

Well from the little I have learned...

If you are from the states.. which from your profile you are then the 1.8Ts changed from 150HP to 170HP in 2001 so if yours is a 98 then your cars the same as mine... a 150bhp

guess I will be corrected if I am wrong....and just because I like her.. here are some pics of my new baby

wrax, 8E is a B6... we just say B5, B6 and B7 for simplicity

EricGT4, your dealer lied to you, no 1.8T is running at 180hp, unless it came with exhaust and intake...
you're running 150< but you're right, it's pretty lame for a turbo, audi has detuned the engines, thus why you see such HUGE gains on our chips compared to other cars.
