arrivingglowing turbo
i went out in the car tonight, came home later on and popped the bonnet to find a glowing turbo, I was accelarating rapidly most of the way home, Is this normal or not a good thing to do.
Most turbocharged cars turbos' will glow with enthusiastic driving over a long(ish) period, its fairly normal. I've seen a Vauxhall Astra (UK, Opel in Europe Holden in Australia) GSi turbo glowing brightly and lit a cigarette off it (and almost my hair and jacket I might add!) so I wouldn't worry about it too much

PS Keep up the enthusiastic driving!

Just make sure that after you work the turbo like that you let it cool down before turning the car off. Let it idle for a few minutes after enthusiastic runs, or consider a turbo timer. Believe me, your turbo will last longer. And welcome to the site. I hope you find it both useful and entertaining. Check out the archives when you get a chance.
Thanks for the quick replys, Yer i made sure it cooled down a bit before a turned the engine off, i have found this site very useful, it has already shoed me how to fix my 99 spec rear lights in. very impressed with the site. i will get a pic up soon
