Default ATP GTRS review

First off special thanks to Paul Calado (an ATP dealer) over on the vortex for hooking me up with this kit. I ordered on a Friday night around 11pm through Paul and my order was placed that night and shipped out monday. Yes ATP did send me everything and they even nextdayed my ECU back and didn't charge me shipping.

The install....
Well the install was fairly easy, although i did have to go to the parts store a few time for different hoses needed for coolant lines and one hose to connect the PCV valve. I got a ported and polished mani and ceramic coated so this may help a little although i wish ATP would have come out with that damn manifold earlier. The turbo fit nice, bolted up good to the manifold and so did my testpipe. The 3" inlet pipe was a little bit of a hassle, it fits but is really cramped and i do have an evo intake so it was a little harder to fit. I could go into more detail about all the little problems i ran into but id rather not.

Driving impressions...
Its damn faster than what it was before. Most times im only 3/4 throttle and it screams. I had problems with my TB hose blowing off, but some heavy duty T-bolt clamps fixed it. It happened twice and i was only at 10lbs of boost. Today was the first time i got on it, I haven't really floored much or taken it above 5k RPM. I have hit full boost i believe it may have had more in it but i go scared and let off the gas once i saw 25psi, considering thats the highest my gauge goes to. There is a little bit of surging and i am going to put in my stock n75 valve instead of the ecs n75 race valve as i do believe that could be the reaoning i hit 25ish. I am going to wait ~400 miles untill i drive it hard, hold boost through out the gears, just to make sure the turbo is broken in.

Right now i got a damn coolant leak, the heat shield that screws onto the evoms intake heat shield rubbed against one of the coolant lines and sliced it and is leaking only under pressure. Its an easy fix but i gotta pull out the intake. Once i get the car running good, no surging and everything seems right im going to try and find a dyno and see how much ATPs claims are true. I will also do some VAG loggs but someone will have to help me with that.

My car info and mods, 99 n-dbw, ATP GTRS harware and fueling kit, ATP 3" inlet pipe, evoMS intake, S4 engine mounts, purems snub, labree 3" testpipe, 2.5" Tect.Tun. DP, milltek 2.5catback with mid muffler removed. P&P and ceramic coated intake and exhaust manifolds, custom FMIC, and more stuff non engine related.

Comments questions ill try the best i can. Thank you again Paul and anybody who is interested in the kit give Paul an IM vwvortex SN(BoostFactory) or on AIM SN (zedoplastico). Don't pay the price on ATPs site, you can get it much cheaper elsewhere.

sweet, that good to hear.

you must keep us updated with dyno results.

i had a feeling these kits would do well on the ndbw cars. i dont think dbw software is very good right now since a few people
have reported weak gains with the mika tuning.

post some pics of the turbo installed and any on the installation if you have them

You dont need to run 400mi, its a ballbearing turbo, rip it up.
