ya people have brought that up too. but not every question has been asked and a lot are specific to certain people. as long as u do a search first we got no problems answering questions. but when a question comes up and the exact same question is like 15 posts down (it has happened a lot) or been answered at least 20 times already then we bitch

edit: and also we usually end up answering their questions anyways and the bitching just serves to point them in the right direction for next time

 

I do understand everyone here but usually you will only get that real noob question from a nooby once or twice then they understand. We were all very excited when we first bought our cars and we wanted to know as much as we could right away. We just have to understand that noobs will always be here and there is going to always be those repeat questions from them on their first couple weeks of posting until they catch on. Just think that new members will join every day and we all have the same thing in common, we like our Audis.

 

Just a quick note from this noobie ... I never used this type of site before I bought my Audi and I WAS one of the people you complained about. I found the search option hard to work with at first, but have since gotten used to it and try to use it when possible. As a noobie I want to thank everyone from these types of forums and let you know that we all appreciate your patients in helping us out during our learning phase.

exactly. which is why we dont ban them or anything. we just flame them and point them in the right direction. its just how we at AF show some love we were all flamed at one point. but once you get past that this place is really a great site with a lot of helpful people

Hey, we were all noobs here once. I came with little knowledge of audi's, decent general knowledge of other cars.
Thanks Ponch, for your response, its one of the most sensible on this post.

I get tired of seeing the same things over and over sometimes, and like someone else said, you dont have to read or answer any posts on here if you dont want to.

The thing that makes this forum great, is when someone new is POLITELY told about the search function, and then given some helpful information, and then hopefully will contribute to the forum in the long run. I think sometimes people are overly harsh to the newer folks on here.

On the same token, if you ask a dumb question, people are going to flame you. Like the a4/s4 guy the other day (search please if you have not read it yet). That and the "turbonator" are good examples of this. You can only reseist the temptation to flame something like that if you are the pope.

So, in closing, this is a great forum, lets keep it that way by being a little nicer to the newer members, and politely suggesting the search function.

 

I will say that this is def. one of the most welcoming, unelitist forums I've ever been on. Until today, as a matter of fact, I hadn't even seen AF have a flame-off! but every forum is doomed to kids that wanna be big shots... whatever, I don't wanna turn this into a discussion about flaming because people will most likely take blame and et defensive, recreating another flamefest... sigh... anyways, I'm just saying for a forum this place is incredibly genial and understanding of noobs like me.
