my dad's english isn't perfect but he's a great driver - 15 years driving only 1 parking ticket, no speending anything ... so you basically want people on the hills to get off their *** and make laws based on socio-economic distinctions?

its one thing to rag on NYC cabbies for driving recklessly its another to bag on them for not speaking english

It may have a lot to do with driving skills. Native language is usually an indication of place of origin. The US probably has more cars per capita than any other place in the world. Cars are our PRIMARY mode of transportation because our public transportation generally stinks unless you live in a large urban area. Therefore, native-born Americans have more experience driving, and with experience comes skill.

This is not a bigotted statement, it's an observation. Sadly, people coming to the United States from other countries where the car is not as popular are not as experienced or as skilled. What makes matters worse, is that they MUST be able to drive if they are in this country to go to work, buy groceries, etc.

I'm not taking sides here, I'm just answering your question.

Screw that, cabbies deserve it. If you live in NYC, you should know that sometimes you want to carry a shotgun in the back for these ******. I had one sideswipe my Discovery. Luckily that thing is built like a tank and took no damage, just some paint got left over on the side bumper while the cabby had paint missing all along their side.
