Hey everyone brand new user here and im looking at buying an audi for me and the family. Im not rich by any means so it will be used under 5000$.

My options are the following.

96 audi a4 black on black leather 1.8t 5spd manual @ 3400$ etested + cert 245km
01 A4 black on black leather 1.8t 5 spd manual @ 3800$ etested + cert 180km
03 a4 black on black leather 1.8t 5 spd manual @ 4800$ etested +cert 200km

Personally i really like the look of the 03 the most but is there any significant differences between these 3 cars i should be aware of?

All of them have jad the water pump tbelt service done within the last 25000km.

Although it will be a family car im sure im going to slowly add some aftermarket stuff to it like rims and msybe different bumpers and light housings. That being said i would like the guys here to tell me which one they would buy and why.

Personally I'd go with the 01. I'm assuming your not in the U.S., so there might be some slight differences from what I know, but as far as I'm aware, the 96 1.8t came stock with 150 hp vs. the 01's 170. Of course, the 1.8t is a very tunable engine so the difference can easily be made up. Also, 5 years newer and 65k km fewer seems like a fair trade off for $400 to me for the 01. As far as the 03 goes, its heavier and in my opinion, not as good looking as the b5. There are lots of threads around here dealing with what to look for when buying a new car, so check them out. Drive them all if you can and get a feel for how each one drives. Good luck!

 

Thanks for your thoughts i was actualky reading some threads and i see that some guys with the older style 96-01 body had clipped on s4 bumpers which i find really sharp looking. The 1000$ i save on the 01 would probably let me pick up a set of those bumpers and maybe some lights or rims with a little extra.

Another vote for the 01 if its been well maintained. I agree, the bodystyle is a little nicer than the B6's.
