Hi.. Just got a new used 1996 a4. when I hit the snowflake button the ac does not come on... the light turns on for a quick second and then turns off... someone said that this happens when it is really cold out.. is this true?? it has been in the 20's and 30's when I tried it, but I still think the ac should come on when i hit the damn button.. anyway, if anyone has any insight on this i would appreciate it.

If the low pressure switch doesnt see enough pressure it wont turn the systyem on. This can happen if its really cold out but most likely you have a leak in the system. It could just be a low charge as well.
