no good for your car its not CAN compliant so for the earlier cars,

Reads and erases Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) of Engine, ABS, Airbags and Automatic Transmission. VERY DEBATABLE

engine trouble dtc yes the others hmmmmm

I can only speak for the European cars in the UK and CAN came out long before 2003 as a test bed only we didn't know of it and will only be a legal requirement in 2008 in the UK, having said that why buy a tool that's going to be out of date in no time at all unless your only going to work on older cars

Audi's have had CAN-Bus since 99.5.

CRAZYHAWK, Ross-tech all the way. Unbeatable customer support and a great product.

exactly my point VAG.COM is the best but if you don't have a laptop or computer near the car your stuffed the you only have the choice of hand held devices, im suspicious about that one because the guy hasn't got a lot of feed back most standard hand held diagnostic tools wont do ABS/SRS or transmission ( if it does wow what a bonus )

Thanks for the info on Controller Area Network (CAN). I was lucky to be outbid on the code reader. I just bid on the following:

I ended up buying this code reader. I was told that the CAN readers would not give me the VAG codes.
I paid $40 with shipping. I plan to keep this car for 2 or 3 more years. If I buy another Audi I'll bring it to the dealer
the first 2 1/2 years. I'll have to get another reader in 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 years.
