i went from a mustang to an audi and the change was insane! my friend also has a 01 325i which i have driven alot and i must say i enjoy my audi so much more. The first thing you'll notice, if you get a quattro, is the handling. you'll just immeadiately be like "why have i been driving anything else?". The car handles well, has decent power, luxurious, and just fun to drive. In regards to reliability the car is only as reliable as the owner is. Take care of your car and you will have little to no problems. i've never driven a b6 so i can't compare the reliability of the 1.8's but my b5 has 90k and is still running strong and haven't had a problem with it to date (unless you consider some old b1tch rear ending you and sending you into the car in front of you a problem[:'(])

out of the box an Audi doesn't handle as well as BMW on dry roads but with upgraded suspension and wheels/tires then it's better. on wet roads, the Audi outperforms stock IMO. oh and also, the interior of an Audi is much better!

I switched from an 03' BMW 330i to the Audi A4 that I got about 3 months ago.
Here's the lowdown:

If I had to build the perfect car, it would look like this:

Engine: BMW inline6 mixed with Audi's Turbo. Mmmmm. Tasty.
Interior: Audi styling. Audi seats. BMW Computer.
Transmission: BMW by a nose.
Handling: Basically a tie.
Exterior: Depends on your taste and which body style you like.
I like BMW's previous styling better than the new body style, but I like Audi's newer body style better than the previous model.
All are nice, though.....
Price: Audi. No contest.
Gas Mileage: Audi, by a nose.
"Mod-ability": Audi wins again.

You can't go wrong with either car. You have to get in them, drive them, and see which one speaks to you.
Match that against what your needs are for the car and what your budget looks like, and pull the trigger.
You will be quite happy with either.
