Default RE: Audi wants my car for testing?

Well I just spoke with the guy from Audi Corporate and here's the deal............not much actually......So far Im one of 5 people in the US selected in the past 6 months. WOO HOO Im special I guess..... the testing will be not even a days worth. They want to test the emissions while the car still has the error, then replace the cat and test them again. thats it, then ship the car back. about 3 weeks due to the travel involved on a covered carrier from NJ to Cali and back.

The guy I spoke with said there is no special paperwork to fill out. He explained it as just like dropping your car off for service only it would take a little longer. The car will be covered while its in their posession just as it would be at a dealer location. They will have a 3rd party inspector look at the car before it ships and when it returns to make sure there is no damage. They will pick up the tab on the repair and get me a loaner. He said the dealership would provide me with an comparable A4 and I jumped right in and said "or a Q7" and he replied with "well it all depends on whats available" so we will see how far thats gets me. So far it looks like I will be saving myself the $140 bucks for the repair and getting to drive a new car for 3 weeks. Dont think Ill be getting my timing belt done but at leaporst I can say Im a "good st".......hehe cause that and $4.50 will get me a large latte from starbucks.

Time to take a few road trips - wish they would make it a little bit more worth your while to give up your car for that time. But hey it saves you the $$

Obviously they have a need. and you have what they need. id try to get free oil changes for life or something in addition to what they are offering, which isnt much.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I say go for it! When I had my car in for service, the dealer was all out of A4 loaners, so they gave me a new A6 to drive around for the day... less than 200 miles on it. I was this close to getting a Q7 loaner... the first A6 which they wanted to give me was almost out of gas. So they found another A6 for my driving pleasure.

why are you guys trying to milk audi? they are trying to investigate something and they are taking care of the guy. they are giving him an a4 and picking up the tap.

if they trash his car while its being handled by Audi then yes give him a q7 loaner till it gets squared away but nothing major is hapening. just some testing. he doesnt have to give them the car. he chose to. theyll find someone else as quick as they found him.

dont be such greedy bastrds.

Fvck yea. They get you for parts and labor all the time, atleast get something out of it for the trouble. As if Audi can't foot the bill, please.

Nope but I'm pretty sure Audi isn't gonna go bankrupt if the guy gets a free timing belt change or a Q7 as a loner. You make it sound like its a sin if he gets a freeby for his trouble.

In all reality, I would be bummed out, but kind of excited and happy to send my car away, assuming I recieved a loaner vehicle. I would ask for an RS4, but of course I'd settle for a newer A4. You can't expect to be over-compensated. By replacing the cat for free, and giving you a loaner vehicle, they are by all means going beyond expectations, they're not making you pay for the work, and you'll have something (even newer) to drive.

...Maybe its all justa conspiracy to get you to fall in love with a newer model, that way they can sell you a new one, and make more profits?!

Well actually the guy from Audi Corporate told me I was the 5th person in the past 6 months as its hard to get hold of people before the work has been completed.

But anyway, Thinking about it now really what are they doing for me? Im getting a $140 bill taken care of and without my car for 3 weeks with a loaner. Hindsight after speaking with the guy, He really should have offered a little more incentive. I should have spoken up more while on the phone, Im feeling its a little too late now. I guess I could call the dealership back and get this guys direct # and express this to him, but whatever.

The conversation wasnt "here's what we will offer you if you do this" it was more of "hey would you mind if we kept your car for 3 weeks longer and ship it 3,000 miles?" I actually had to speak up about the $140 tab.
