audi's closed loop system
ok ok. jettaredII is right. not having a dv/bov... will not cause the motor to blow up. early race cars used to not run anything but they constantly had to replace there turbos do to failure becuase of compressor surge. im running a t3t4 with a dv and made lots of power with it with no problems. replacing the maf or moving it will not help you out as there is no where for it to go other then where it is now. if you run a bov you will run rich no matter what you do unless you tune your car for it. moving the maf will not help you out becuase it has to go before the turbo, you cannot have a maf in the charge pipe, newer audis have map sensors and that is by the TB in the charge pipe. and it measures pressure. if you unplug your maf in newer audis with the map sensor you can run a bov however unpluging the maf will hinder your performance. ok the dv/bov... can ge anywhere in the charge pipe system. it can go before or after the ic, it dosent matter. the reason it is where it is on our cars is becuase we are running a dv and it was cheeper for audi to put it close to the turbo becuase that is inturn close to the intake system using less ruber hose. the ideal place for a bov/dv... is about 6 inches from the tb. but if you look at the pic below it would be more expensive to reroute teh air all the way back across the engine to the intake pipe. also the pipe coming off the dv going to the intake system must go after the maf so the air is not "counted twice" becuase thats what a maf does, it measures how much air is going into the motor and then the ecu will figure out how much fuel to add. so this is why a bov is bad becuase the ecu things that air is going back into the motor so it will add X about of fuel but if that air is not there becuase you vented it out in a psssss noise you will run rich. wow that must be confusing to read my bad hope it helps. sorry didnt read it to make sure it makes sense but hope you get hte idea
so im not trying to bag on anybody, but has anybody here ever had a car that runs a BOV, and not just an audi that runs a DV??
CUZ IF SO, YOU WOULD KNOW THERE THE SAME FREAKIN THING....EXACTLY....
YOU CAN GET A BOV TO SHOOT BACK INTO THE INTAKE EXACTLY THE WAY A DV DOES...
THEIR IS NO DIFFERENCE, ITS JUST THAT "MOST" BOV's ARE NOT RAN BACK INTO THE INTAKE.... YOU CAN TAKE OFF YOUR RECIRCULATING HOSE ON A DV ALSO, AND GET THE SAME NOISE
SO PLEASE PEOPLE, I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT, THERE THE SAME THING...IDENTICAL, IF YOU DISAGREE, PM ME, CUZ THIS IS JUST GONNA GET OUTTA HAND...

yes you are right. a bov and dv do the same thing, it just depends on where you have the air go. if i have it go to the intake pipe i say im running a dv but when i unplug mine and it makes the psss noise i call it a bov.
