Default Auto Zone charges for scan now???

Does anyone know if autozone will still scan ur car with OBD II for free still? I just called two and they said you need a deposit...

They probably think you are asking to borrow a code reader. If you go there, they will do it for free.

they said "we wont do it for you... we'll have to take a deposit and you do it yourself, and then return it"
have auto zones near anyone else started taking deposits and not doing the scans for free?

I borrowed one from them before. I paid $299 or something for deposit. It reads and tell you what the problem is and allow you to erase it.

i was just there yesterday and the guy was cool and let me take it out to the parking lot and and erase my codes and didnt charge me a thing. but yeah most places will charge you a deposit but you will get it back as soon as u return it.
