So I called Autozone today to see if they could scan the car for codes before driving all the way out there. The guy on the phone tells me unless the check engine light is on they can't read it. Is this true?? I need to get it scanned. Where else can I go?????

 

Yes, its true. Autozone and most auto shops only have generic OBDII readers. Can only read CEL codes.

You need a VAG-COM in order to read codes that do not make a CEL

Yea I think you do , you can find one for real cheap on ebay. Get the cheapest shittiest one you can find. Cause alls youll need to use it for is VAG-COM. You can usually get one refurbished for like 150. Search around.

 

Prolly a good idea. I have a desktop now. How much is the VAG-COM???
