Default aw crud

I was just at an intersection on a hill at first, and i needed to get to the left lane. So when the light turned green, I floored it to pass the guy on the left. Well...half way through the flooring, the car started to chug...really badly. I was no where near red-line either...i was about 5000rpm in 1st gear. There was a big wind/wooooosh noise everytime the car would chug.

WHen I get to the next light, I stop, and the car proceeds to die. I turn it back on. It dies again. Again and again. I finally was able to keep it on...don't know how. Went the mile or 2 i needed to get home. Now it's in the garage...and there's a small burning smell in my garage.

Has ANYONE ever had this? THe car is chipped, but the programming was turned to stock (it has been there for the past 2 months).

"Chug" "big wind/wooooosh" I like that its funny.

Heres my professional opinion; There's something wrong with your car.

Hmm, when the engine was chugging, did you notice if you had copious amounts of smoke coming out the tailpipe? How many miles are on the car and what mods have you done to it?

I brought it to the dealership...blow-off valve exploded. The woosh noise is due to a massive vacuum leak.

My question is...do 2001 A4's have both a DV and a blow-off valve? I asked him to check the DV at the same time (see if it is stock or not...this is a used car), he said it was stock while the blow-off was aftermarket. Doesn't seem to make sense that a car would have 2 valves that serves basically the same purpose, does it?

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket blow-off valve/DV? I need to get it replaced so I can stop driving like a grandpa.

That happened to me about a year ago in my Durango, but seeing as there is no turbo, my problem was bit more severe. I had a crack in the engine block that killed it. But the good thing about it was that since it was still under warranty I only had to pay $100 for the deductable and got a new engine! Ha ha!
