So the next thing is... the cheapest I have seen the K04-20 is on Ebay for about 920$(s&h incl.)....anyone know of a better deal? ( I wish to buy new...no refurbished please!)

ya. k04-20 is for the TT and will not fit on the a4. you need a k04-15. right now they are on backorder from borg warner so the only way to pick one up at the moment is through classifieds. theres a mom and pop company that rebuilds k03's to k04 specs. onepoint8tee knows more about it than i do, but no one on the site has tested them yet. they should be shipping out more k04's soon tho. so by the time you save up the money they should be back in stores (hopefully).

for some reason i was under the impression(I think I lied to myself) that the K 04-20 would work...well it doesn't sound like it...sooo...

I searched around and found all sorts of kits that require more $ than I was thinking of droppig and obviously requiring more junk than I inted to purchase...

so I guess the newest questions would be...where are you guys buying your K 04-15's?...(are they a stock turbo from another audi...can this be done through a dealer?)


My car is new to me, bare stock, and from the looks of it has never seen abuse...I have a brand new stock turbo in it, but I really want more from the car because i know the block can handle the big psi...

currently my boost is at a roughly 8psi+- all depending on the climate...I am guessing to all frour wheels I am pushing a good 120hp or so...I want to bump it to about 200hp to the wheels....

the fist idea I have, after reading as much as i could about the car is to go FMIC, new DV, K 04-15, chipped, bigger injectors and tuning(chip P-16?)...

I am a DIYer, currently I have a couple other cars in the works, but I have put this car as top priority, mainly because It's my daily driver since I blew the motor in the last one...

so, I ask these Q's because as you all know, being car fanatics (loving your cars)...if you have the cash you want to spend it as soon as possible so that you can go out and terrorize the streets...


after the upgrades listed above...I want to run 12-14psi and the goal is a meer 200+hp...(possible?)

to anyone who has already gone through everything I have...what did you pay for it? what psi are you running? estimated hp? I really dont ever go over 80mph in the canyons, but I like to get there as fast as possible...what kind of acceleration 0-60,0-100, 1/4mile? how realiable has your setup been? anyone have any problems?

what is the factory clutch rated for? what kind of power can it handle?(clutch)

 

ok...anything comperable to the k 04-15?...another turbo that will just drop right in and work with the rest of the mods I have listed above?

k04-15 is the only "bolt-on" turbo available. 200 is easily achievable, but you'll be boosting more than that. pc-16 will put you just under 300 crank hp and is a torque factory.

if youre runing regular ko4 programing you dont need FMIC. for the agressive file you do.

for pc16 ya need : fmic,exaust,cai,injectors,fpr, strong dv, boost guage, bigger brakes lol

 

Well with the PC-16 file you dont have a choice at what your boost will be, It will be anywhere between 20psi-28psi on average. You will definetly be over the 200hp mark without a doubt. My exhaust is a custom mendrel bent 2.5" with ATP 3' testpipe and magnaflow muffler and my car sounds beastly. For the full exhaust it only cost me $500. You definetly need to upgrade your DV. Chip and new DV go hand in hand. The injectors are including in the P-16 package and are 310cc. Some argue you need a new FPR but I am running the stock one and am just fine. You dont need any internal work as the 1.8T engine is pretty bulletproof up to 400chp. I have never had my car dyno'd but Im spiking at around 24-25psi and holding 19psi to redline. I forgot what the factory clutch is rated at but its not to strong and I dont suggest launching on PC-16 with a stock clutch. Also if the clutch was in bad shape before you bought the car it may slip due to the massive torque that the K04 produces. As for other turbos, the only one slightly comparable to the K04 woud be a GT2X turbo but you still need the same supporting mods as the K04 maybe even a tad bit more. j31 is tuned for 28psi, runing at 24 is what most people run it at or so i hear because of best gains.
