i would rather have to pushdown, because with the 6-Speed since reverse is right next to first gear, when you go to select first gear and pull the stick to the left, there is no stopping point for you to know where first gear is, it will just go right into reverse.
which sucks because now that its shorter, reverse and first are very close together and if you arent careful you can put it into reverse instead.
i got some new retaining rings that may help hold the spring down better, and i'll redo the install friday when im off work. i'll be sure to have it in neutral

yeah, you'd definately want a push down reverse, the gearbox is set up the same as the bimmers,and I have a friend who downshifted into "first" (reverse on accident) he was going about 20, he wanted to fishtail (euro-dift) through a right hand turn and instead the card slowed to a stop and stalled... about a month later his clutch went (he only got 30k out of his first...haha)....keep the push down reverse!
