I'm looking into getting a A4 and my step father works at a dealership and he talked to his whole seller who dose nothing but imports and he said a B5 with around 90K-120K that is well takin care of that the check engine light will come on every now and then and it will cost about $300 to get if shut off but i know i can go get the codes checked at autozone but i want a "quote" from someone who has owned a A4 that is a 1.8T AWD 5-Speed.

the dealership around me said to just clear the code it cost 20 bucks. now to check it was 90 but if you take there to clear it, they do it cheap. or just find somebody with a vag com to do it for ya! I have a 98 1.8 5 speed. actually at the shop now for check engine light. dont pay 300 to clear it or you just took it up the you know what!

 

You can get the car's codes scanned and erased at most auto parts stores for free.
