b5 vs b6
i'm thinking about selling my b5 00 audi a4 1.8tqsm, with a 2002 b6 with same packages, same everything. the 2002 has 83k miles on it, same as my car, but i just like the new body styling so much more, they look so nice with a body kit on. the dealer was asking 15,900, i got it down to 15,000, which i think is a good deal (lower than edmunds' dealer appraisal). my question is, i've recently dumped all my tax money in my a4 (water pump, timing belt, oil leak, gasket leak, coolant leak, check engine light on, control arms, brakes, etc.) which i love to the point where i would do that, should i expect the same maintenance on the 2002 a4 as i did on my 2000 a4? or are the newer models more reliable? any suggestions, comments are welcome.
Personally I would not pay $15,000 for a car with 83k miles on it, sounds nuts to me. Since you dumped all that money (sounds like alot of it too looking at the work that was done) stick with the B5, if you get the 02 you would be eating a major loss.
the b6 interior is significantly nicer than the b5, and the overall feel of the b6 is much more solid.
i think the b5 body style is definitely getting stale, espeically considering that the b7 has been out for a while.
i am actually starting to like the b7 better sometimes than my b6...which means i find the b5 pretty old looking at this point.
but yeah, 83k miles...i don't plan on keeping my b6 past 75k miles...83k is a lot of miles.
