hello, first post. My father owns a 2002 A4 1.8t with about 105000 miles. His engine has started to go pyscho. He recently had it serviced because the engine seemed a little more than "reluctant" to rev, which replaced all spark plugs and the ignition coil packs. The engine was good for about 3 weeks, and now the revs will just go nuts intermittedly. The throttle is not linked to the pedal it seems. The tach will cycle and the motor will scream, and then lug for an extended period of time. I have heard that the audi turbo seems to lose its mind at about 100000 miles, is this true? I have no knowledge of audi motors and such, so any and all comments are welcome. Thanks for all help!

RE: B6 A4 1.8t
Welcome to the forum. Doesn't seem to sound like turbo problems. Could be anything from a bad sensor to a vacuum leak. The only way to find out is to get the codes pulled. Autozone will do it for free. Post the numbers here, and we may be able to help.

Sounds like itseither the maf is going or the throttle body needs realigned.
