b7 A4 starting w/o clutch
I have an 07 A4 that I got about a week ago. I noticed yesterday by accident that it starts without the clutch in. Is this normal or should I be concerned? I tried doing a search but couldnt get a definite answer wether or not the b7 has a safety switch....
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
yea that's def a problem. like avant80@2.6 said the only reason would be it was an option (doubt it though) or remote start (doubt it) or it's just something that needs to be fixed
Well, on our old 68 mustang 3spd, you have to have the clutch in in order to start it, even if its in neutral. but we just took out a fuse and now you dont need the clutch in to start it, even if you are in gear. i dont know if these cars are simmilar. i would assume its all computer dont, but for such a simple on/off situation, you never know.
the UK don't use this system on immobilisers because its too well known we now use thatcham 1 systems which are fully electronic and insurance friendly ( ish ) and has to be fitted by a qualified alarm tech or dumb *** as I call them that was part of my job over 40 years ago now its a trade on its own
Well i dont know about the B7's, but what i do know is that the Nissan 300ZX, you did not need to depress the clutch to start the engine. So to me it doesnt look like a problem, just probably and option audi installed.
