Battery died on me last night :(
Just a little over a year after the dealership installed a new battery on my car, last night my car wont start. After my kind neighbor helped me jump start it, I could take it to the local Autozone who tried to re charge it - but couldnt cuz apprently it was shot. Had to buy a new one - Duraplex for a good 70 bucks
Now, qestions to the knowledgeable:
1. The tube that comes out of the battery, i guessed that it goes into a small hole just by the base of the battery holder. Is that correct?
2. How can I know that the battery that Autozone sold me was per the correct specifications? - I mean it fit right into the slot but is that it? The guy told me that this new battery had a slighty more cranking (factor?) which is ok than having less. is that true?
Please advise,
Shreyas

yeah the tube is to vent off gases that are produced in the batt cells
If the CCA is greater Cold Cranking Amps that is good if it was less the batt
would have a hard time turn your engine over and it would not last.

Remember too, that unless the battery is sealed, which 99% aren't the batteries need maintenance. This includes checking the electrolyte level every 4-6 months and adding distilled water to keep the electrolyte at the correct level. Otherwise, the battery will die prematurely.
