Default Battery Removal and Install

Tomorrow I'm going to be removing my old batter and installing a new one. Anyone done this on a 2000 A4 1.8TQM? I've never installed a car battery and could use some advice. I searched and couldn't find a writeup or anything so some help would be appreciated.

you need a 8mm, a 10 or 12 mm and a 6" extension. then just take out and put in. there's a thing in the front of the baterry hold ing it down. make sure to have yur radio code or plug in a 9v battery into the cig outlet.

Before you loosen the piece that holds down the edge of the battery, givethe bolta spray with your favorite lubricant. If you don't have a favorite, use PB Blaster. Negative cable comes off first, identified by the negative sign on the battery and black colored cable. Next, take off the positive cable, identified by the positive symbol on the battery and the red colored cable. Once the cables are off, loosen the bolt that you sprayed and remove the hold down clamp. Observe which way the clamp sits so you can replace it in the same position. Replace the cables onto the new battery. First, tighten thered to the positive and then black to thenegative. Tighten the clamps so they're tight, but don't over-tighten. You should not be able to twist the terminal on the battery post. When you replace the negative on the battery(positive is already on) you might observe a small spark. Nothing out of the ordinary. As hiwords stated: before you begin, be sure you have the code for your radio.

Theres a vent tube on the drivers side of the battery too. It just pulls out. When connecting the negative cable its not a bad idea to turn your head away. That spark mentioned above can cause the battery to explode. Its like a 1 in a millionchance but id rather not get battery acid in my eyes.
