This is for the 12 valve engine, but they are almost identical procedures i'm sure.

Use your sprocket puller to carefully release the camshaft sprockets. They are not keyed to the camshafts -- the camshafts have tapered ends that the sprockets are stuck on. When you release the sprockets (they will come off with a heart-stopping bang; don't worry! You haven't broken anything unless the camshafts moved) they will be able to spin freely while the camshafts stay in place....

Cant this be done with the Camshafts still in place ?
like move them ahead or back to tighting the belt in between the Cams ?????

Yeah I never understood that part. I didn't bother to remove the camshaft sprockets. Make sure you have the tool to lock the cams together as well as the crank bolt to lock it into place. I borrowed the tools from a friend.

I think you'll need tool #3391 and #3242

So how did you tighting the belt in between there 2 Cam gears ?
Is it that accurate that there wont be alot of play ?
And do you have to remove the whole front bumper to do it ?

yes you have to remove the entire bumper and radiator carrier. (service position) What you do is remove the old tensioner and the old belt. Install the new tensioner and belt loosly. Then you take the bar and bolt it onto the two cams to lock them into to dead center (TDC). At this point the crank position sensor has been removed and the locking bolt is in its place. You then adjust the tensioner to the right specs and then remove the locking bar and crank bolt. and then done!

well not really, because at this point the whole engine block will be drained of coolant. You can will have to put the radiator back on and fill/bleed the system. You don't have to have the bumper cover on though.

Say for like 30 to 40 seconds ? you can tell right away if the belt to tight, dats
after ive taking out the holding tools...
I would be realy upset to put everything back and have a belt wine
from the engine ....

Well it's your choice, but I wouln't do it myself. It'll probably throw some nice CEL's though.
