Default The Best Airbox Mod is....

......Garbage!!!!

I have an 01 A4 1.8tq and i did the airbox mod tonight and i actually lost time from 0-60 and also like someone said you have to punch down on the gas harder to get moving than u would with the stock setup. What a mistake cutting up my box. I covered it all back up and its running like it did before. The proper way.... just like the very intelligent German engineers designed this thing to run. With the damn airbox mod it sounded shitty on idle and when i would punch down hard on it and then let go u would hear a pinging noise which sounded like rice. Like on of those civics with the 1 inch exhaust going to a 5 inch fart can.

Anyways if your thinking of performing this mod just remember one thing... youll regret it and wish u didnt make the same mistake as i did.. the only thing u might like is the turbo sounds louder than stock but its not worth the loss of power and the fact that youll be pressing on the gas more to get r going....

Sorry to the people that think this is a good mod.... but i just had to vent!!!!

Anyone feel offended?? Go right ahead and tell me im wrong im not going to argue with you on the internet thats for damn sure...

peace out

Yeah I never will understand why people try stupid things like that to get more power.

Ya its a little more laggy with the air box mod, but i wasnt at dissapointed as you appartently are. I noticed the lag more on take off from a stop than anywhere else throughout the power band. I am however looking for a 2000 stock air box to have on hand and do comparisons with.

I can't see myself trying this mod myself, but I would imagine it would take a little while for the compluter to re calibrate to perform the way the expected results call for.

Just my 2 cents.

i did the same sort of thing to my 2.8, it sounds a lot better i think, the throttle response is good, it feels a bit peppier in the mid-range too, but it feels like it drops out a bit faster before redline... any ideas of why this could cause a lack of power, does it mess up the flow of your ram air
