1)Lets say I gave you 30 grand or so?
What would be the best year/engine type (1.8T, 2.0, 3.0 etc.) A4 to purchase and modify? What would be the best modifications to make to improve performance/handling/power? I was thinking probably the 2004 w/ the 3.0L engine but I really dont know. Additionally, I only have a really vague idea of what would be the best option to pump up the power and handling. Also, if you think it would be smarter (less money, better performance) to try and find a 2004 S4 w/ the 4.2L V8, and not modify it at all let me know.

 

You typically dont want a NA engine if mods is what you seek. I would get a B5S4 with twin K04'sif you gave me 30g's, and I would take the remaining 15g's and travel for a year.

 

I'm with onepoint8tee, B5 S4's are where it's at.

 

Gotcha. From what Ive read twin K04's will cost me about 11 grand installed, and boost me up to about 440 hpcorrect? Is there much difference between the rest of the B5 S4 (suspension,brakes etc.) and the newer ones besides engine size? Also should I have this installation done at an audi dealership? Everybody else agree with this recomendation?

 

Also, should do these cars tend to have many problems later in life (if I got one with high mileage 80,000+)?? I hear they do, especially with the turbo's on them.

 

S4 with twin gtrs turbos. All turbo life expectancies are about 100,000 miles.Everything else is like all cars out there suspention starts to go at 100,000, seats show deterioration, and maintence needs done. k04 are a waste of money in my opinion.

 

jsut to clarify, about price on a twin Ko4 on the B5 S4, there is no possible way you can spend 11K, the turbos, fmic(which you won't really need, but does help), exhaust, injectors, tuning, intake and all the other little nick nacks should run you under 7K...gl!...have you used the search feature up at the top of the screen, and you should probably read THIS if you haven't....
