So Im looking to upgrade my OEM 16" wheels. I have a silver 99 a4 2.8 quattro 5sp with stock everything except the s4 suspension was installed. I cant decide if I should get 17s or 18s (probably s4 or rs4 reps). I will be painting my lowers. What size looks the best on B5 a4's (with painted lowers and s4 suspension) since they have smaller wheel wells than the S4s?

Also, any specific suggestions on wheel / tire packages?

And wow, the S4 suspension gave you a lot more of a drop than I'd have thought it would. That looks great.

 

Man, I had my mind set on 17's for more ruber for the city driving, but 18's look really nice on a4's.

 

I'm in the same boat....i want 18's but new england roads suck!

Along the same lines, and without posting another thread; are 18s more susceptible to damage (bends, dents, etc) as opposed to 17s? I'm sure the two factors that need to be weighed for this would be wheel rigidity (who makes them), and tire size (sidewalls).

Anyone have any personal experiences (good/bad) between the two?

 

Yup, 18's are gonna be a little more likely to bend than 17's.

The conventional wisdom around here is 18's are the best look for B5s, and that 19's arethe best look forB6s.

 

yeah I think I got it from a painted lowers post by flyboy. So your positive those are 18"? If so then 18's look like the right size to me...

but this car (I dont mean to hate) I think the s4 wheels look a little big and a little out of place, maybe thats just my opinion / or maybe the lighting is just weird in that picture... think they are 19s?
