I just photoshopped my A4 with a blacked out front grill. The chrome outline piece and the slats all black, leaving the 4 rings chrome. I really liked the way it contrasted my silver car. Has anyone here done this themselves? If so, what kind of paint did you use / any special procedures to doing it?

i'm not sure if i'm going to tackle this myself yet, i just want a little info.

I have also seen the chrome gone over in silver...Looked good imo!!!

 

Yeah Beer Mod actually did the DIY. I can't wait to do it, car looks sweet with it.

 

yeah it's either black outline with black slats or silver outline with black slats....


i hang around a e46fanatics forum and it seems like a lot of bmw guys either color match their kidney grills in the front or black them out

Here ya go. Use whatever black paint you want. Just know that after a while it will start to chip chrome unless you completely strip the chrome off before painting, which is practically impossible. I just bought an oem blackout grille for my b6.
