I have a 1998 1.8T FWD, i recently bought the car and i blew the stock turbo. and since i figured i have to get a new turbo, why not upgrade to a better one. now my question is.. Is there a turbo that will bolt on to the stock manifold that will produce a significant amount of increased HP?? and if so, where can i find it, and roughly how much it is?? If anyone has any suggestions please post. Thanks a million!!!

i don't want to sound like a complete idiot, but i am new to the audi and turbo world. roughly how much is a ko4 going for, and if you know of any respectable websites that i can purchase one. also if i do the ko4 upgrade what other engine internal mods should i do?? If you search you will find alot of info on the K04-15 turbo that will bolt up to your motor. Ebay has them bor around 700$ shipped and that is all you need to make it work on you car. However to get more hp out of it you'll need

Ko4 chip
DV
exhaust
injectors
FPR
FMIC

Get those and you should be at 250-300chp. To get more info just search around it's here if you look

The k03 is just a model number for the turbo on the stock 1.8T Borg Warner KKK K03 Turbo.
The k04 (k04-015 is the full model for our cars) is an upgrade to that. Better fin design , higher boost capacity , and better flow.

The k04 will bolt right on in the place of the k04.

You do not NEED anything else. But, if you do infact want to utilize the k04's potential you will need a k04 chip... (400-500 for base chip, then 200 more for the k04 chip)

With that chip you will need a new FPR (Fuel Pressure regulator.)

You can get k04's new for about 800$ shipped from some guy on the zine http://www.audizine.com

You can buy a used one, but make sure its decent.. or get a sweet deal.

The regular k04 chip will put you at 215-220HP at the crank or so.. and since your FWD.. I dont think you will get much drivetrain loss.

If you want to upgrade even more ! You can get bigger injectors and a FMIC (Front Mount Intercooler 900-1300$) . This new k04 PC16 will increase timing and boost and put you at 235 HP at the crank, and 280TQ at the crank , roughly 200WHP, and 240WTQ.. not too shabby...
