Default blue/grey smoke and loss of performance

Hi folks,
hoping some one can help on Saturday my car (S Reg 1.9TD) stated to pump out lots of blue grey coloured smoke from the exhaust, it is smelly (like burning oil) and the performance is not there. i have had someone have a quick look today and they don't know if it is the pistons, the turbo or the seals. It went in for some repairs to an oil leak about a month ago and they didn't spot anything then? Can't afford a big job do any of you have anyideas what might have caused it and what to do?
Thanks

the oil seals in the turbo are toast. you need a new turbo. used ones can be had for a couple hundred bucks on ebay and in classifieds on here and on www.vwvortex.com

$200-300 for a used turbo, oil change, and top up on some coolent. If you can do the labor, you can walk away with only spending $250-350. If you can undo some bolts and have a decent set of tools, its not really that hard (never done a tdi but a 1.8t isnt to bad).
