lol. any bmw is more reliable than a vw/audi

altho m cars r more frequent to breakdown, i'd recommend a 325 or 318 for reliability. however german old car, **** gonna wear out quick so don't expect it to be trouble free like a honda/toyota.

Not to mention when it does wear down, it is more expensive than honda/toyota. Good thing German cars look nice.

Can anyone tell me how expensive it really is to maintain an A4 after it starts "wearing down" assuming that its been treated fairly well? How many miles can you expect to get before things start to go and how about much does it cost per year once you reach this point?

I have an 02 3.0 6spd, and it has been fine, I have 80,000 on it and beside the anoying check engine light that comes on for no reason, I have had it scanned, its normal wear and tear stuff breaks, belts plugs. .... Not bad at all. I am not speaking for everyone on this site but a lot of them really beat the heck out of their cars Any car is going to have issues if you floor it at every green light just to slam on the brakes at a red light a 100 yards down the road. I am not saying that I havent moded my car and driven hard but as long as you keep up on it the maint. it is no more prone to breaking down than any other car. Granted our parts are a little more but compared to a m3 it should be a bargain

'02 A4 1.8T Q with 17" 5 spoke stk wheel. Bot at 52K, have 92K now as my daily commuter, 110 mi/day. It's dolphin grey, sunroof, 5sp,sport susp. w/Platinum Leather - real. Had a steer fluid leak and a gunked up fuel pres. reg. valve fixed at no charge by dlr. No elec. prob's. Timming belt stuff to be done soon. No front susp. noises. Best part.....it looks like an '05 and I got it for $16.9K, not a scratch.
