Boost??

Boost??
Hey guys i just installed a blowoff valve and a boost gauge. Funny thing is that my gauge reads like -40 on idle (my gauge only goes to -30) and shows that im boosting 12psi max. Would a standard 1997 A4 1.8T quattro boost this much?? Or is my gauge messed up??

on audis, the air let off from the diverter valve goes back into the system AFTER the mass airflow sensor. then the computer just adds that air into the equation
well, with a BOV, you blow the air off into the atmosphere. the computer still adds that air, so you have fuel put into your engine from what the MAF (mass airflow sensor) reads, plus what the DV (diverter valve) would normally put in, but in reality you only have the air the car reads put back in. so you are now running ritch. which is bad.

^^^ VERY understated. You just turned your car into a rolling, drivable bomb. Once you go over 50, you can't go under 50 or everyone in a 50 ft. radius of the car dies.
