Boost after giac ecu upgrade

The installer said that the boost pressure starts at 18 psi and drops off to 14 psi. Does that seem too high? I have a 99 A4 with a giac chip upgrade and a 710 DV.

Ah ok, the turbo is quite a bit louder now under hard acceleration, guess that makes sense due to the higher boost. Seems like lag is worse, hesitation at times, - I guess higher boost=more lag.
Also, if I got the k04, how much does that boost? Looks like from the AWE site, I would also need a borla exhaust if I got the k04? I plan on getting the tip chip on Friday. This is what I see on their site :
AWE Tuning for A4 (B5)

I dont think people are understand the bar/psi system. 1bar chips(14.7) psi, are going to spike(boost) alot higher then 14.7, 14.7 psi is just what the car/turbo will hold steady boost at through the rpms/gears. Its obvisouly going to die off after 5.5krpm. A 1bar/14.7 psi chip will boost up to 17-18psi with no problems. Depending on the day/weather, i make about 15psi in 1st, 20psi in 2nd, 21psi in 3nd, 22psi in 4, and 23psi in 5th. This is not steady boost tho, it will only hold 18psi to 20psi.
