Default boost gage

i think i will get my car chipped on friday. gonna (hopefully) install the 710N DV tomorrow. i'm planning on doing it in the parking lot of the autoparts store because 1) i can get anything i need and 2) i live in an apartment. I think i'm gonna go with GIAC, mainly becuase none of the tuning centers with APR ANSWER THE ****ING TELEPHONE! ever! [:@]

ok i hope i don't upset by asking this question, but i did a search for "boost gage" and only found 3 threads. I take it this gauge tells.......... lol thats funny. nevermind....

ok, so i'm thinking i should get a boost gauge after i get chipped. i personally think the vent-mount looks pretty good. However the price i found seems pretty steep. I have a B5

is this a fair deal given that it is a full kit? i think it'd better be pretty freaking nice for a $240 gauge. will i need a new splitter to prevent buzzing?

thanks!

yeah, you can go the custom fiberglassin route...
or i've even seen a guy cut a hole in his vent... and superglue it in there. really liked the look of it... but i'll bed you'd have to block off that vent so you don't get whisteling noises, and wires flapping around when you have the air on

I had no whistling

This was in my sedan. I think I will make a custom fiberglass one for the avant.

I drilled out the existing fan grill to the appropriate size and slid the gauge into it. Worked great.

thanks for the advice guys. installed my new dv today (710N). it was funny i was jacking up the car in the parking lot of NAPA when these guys pulled up who happened to have a shop jack in the back of their truck. they jacked up for me and took off....but when it was time to get it off the jack stands the audi jack wouldn't reach that high! lol. luckly there was a tranny shop across the street and i was able to tip a couple guys to bring a jack over and lower my car. other than that the install went smoothly, though it may be time for a new belly pan.
gonna get my chip tomorrow....still don't know if APR or GIAC!!! APR shop answered the phone just to make my decision harder i think. APR shop is closer but they want 400 + 80 for install. Giac shop wants 400 install included. 86 vs 75 miles away. $80 is a lot. think i'll go giac unless someone can give me a good reason to go APR in the next hour or so [sm=chattypair.gif]
oh yeah, i have 111k miles. i've heard APR is "less agressive"... should i give any weight to this?

on the gauge.... has anyone installed it in the vent to the left of the steering wheel? i think that would be nice. is it hard to get to though?
if i f**k my vent up is it easy to get on from the dealer (or other place)?
