Default boost issues

So I did the due search and whatnot and didn't find what I was looking for.

Since I got my GIAC chip I have noticed my car runs a lot better as far as MPG and whatnot, BUT I am still throwing the running lean cel code. I've replaced my MAF so now its down to a boost issue. If I understand it correctly since I am running lean the engine is getting less air that its expecting, thus a BOOST leak, not a vac issue. SO, whats the best way to find said boost leak? I don't really hear it or anything when I mash the gas I just know it must exist due to the cel.... any thoughts?

here is a DIY boost leak tester

Tools Needed:
1. Tennis Ball
2. Flat Head Screw Driver
3. Knife (to cut the tennis ball)
4. Compressor or Air Pump

Step 1: Get a tennis ball.

Step 2: Cut two holes in the tennis ball, one on each end.

Step 3: Should look like this on each end of the tennis ball.

Step 4: Go to your car an find the turbo inlet hose.

Step 5: Remove MAF and inlet hose from airbox or air filter

Step 6: Hook compressor or air pump to the tennis ball by sliding it in the holes you cut before.

Step 7: Place the tennis ball in the inlet hose and clamp it in using the existing clamp.

Step 8: Turn on compressor and pump air into the inlet hose. CAUTION: DO NOT OVER PRESSURIZE!!! 10psi should be more than enough.

Step 9: Now listen for air coming out of any boost lines or vaccume hoses. Now you should find your leak. Mine was here.

ah good stuff, i have a tennis ball and an air compressor.... oh wait i have knives too!

Could be a fuel problem....how? Fuel filter? or what? I NEED to get this fixed....

My thought that its a boost issue is because the car runs better and smoother since I installed the Chip.... would indicates to me the engine was lacking proper airflow before.

You would actually have a vacuum leak bc if you had a boost leak, you would be running rich.

right... so more air is getting to the engine than the ECU thinks should? I just replaced my MAF so I guess i'll see what I can find as far as leaks go...

yes you have a vac leak, i had the same thing and it was throwing the code for lean it was P1136 or something like that. check the L-hose located behind the intake manifold as it is prone to tearing

dont work on cars.. get some knowledge first, im not trying to be an ***, but if you dont know the difference between rich, and lean, and you dont know what an intake manifold is , i suggest you dont work on your car till you research a little
for reference.

RICH: To much FUEL in the AF = BOOST LEAK
LEAN: To much AIR in the AF = VAC LEAK
