so check this out i just installed a AWE boost gauge on my 2004 A4 1.8T. i have a APR chip and when i floor my car the boost spikes at 19-21 lbs. so heres the problem when i floor my car the boost holds at 17-19lbs. tell i get up to about 4000 RPMs. after 4000 the boost start to drop the higher the RPM's the lower the boost drops. at my red line my boost is at 7-5 lbs. i know the boost will drop through the RPM's but why does it drop sooo much?

check the mounting point for the boost sensor

 

where is that? i was told by APR that the computer is going into safe mode and thats why the boost drops so much. so yeah i still dont know if anyone can explain this please do.

this wouldn't be the sensor... seeing as it sounds like it's reading correctly until higher RPMs. Yeah, definatly shouldn't be dropping to 7 at all. If i were to guess, I'd say you're starting to see a very small vaccum leak...

 

yeah, i think i have a small vac leak, im only making 21psi now.
