Default Boosting 10 psi with mbc, Safe or not?

I just installed a mbc from ebay on my 1.8t, the car already has a fmic and because of it the psi had dropped to 6 psi, i figured ill get the mbc to bring the psi back to stock. After i installed it, it spiked at 11 and held at 10, i like how itpulls now, but i was wondering how much higher can i really go without a chipped and without blowing my motor?

Not really interested in chipping at this point....

None of us can tell you, what you need is a AFC, wide band O2 and an EGT gauge to see if you are in the "safe zone". OR you could just buy a chip cuz they do all the guess work for you. I would guess 20 psi could be reached with the proper logs and NO chip.

my car is a 99.5 i thought diode was only for cars with boost sensor which mine doesnt have. Also i dont know what setup im going with yet, so i dont want to buy a chip until i decide what ill be doing.

If you set it up right (good parts) a BT will do just fine and not over power the motor. I am going with the gtrs elim and my car is a DD for my wife.

good choice. gtrs is a nice power gain, yet still small enough to not affect reliability too much. you might wana consider going full gt28rs tho. just something for you to research a little...

as for the mbc, you'd need to know what the a/f ratios are. 10 psi should be safe tho. a 3 psi increase out of a k03 isn't really adding that much air. there's someone on here (can't remember his name at the moment) who is running 14 psi with a mbc and so far he hasn't seen any problems. i think he'll see some soon tho.

You should be fine as far as the motor goes running the K03 at 10 psi. I have a 2000 and it peaks at 9 and holds about 7-8 psig, so I would think 10 would be no prob. The only worries you might have would be a lean mixture at first - the fmic will cool the air better and you'll have more (dense) air into the engine - but the MAF should adjust the fuel mixture to compensate if it's working right? Also check your fmic setupfor a leak, which wouldalso contribute to loss of boost pressure. What MBC did you buy? I'm thinking about getting one untilI decide on a turbo and chiptoo.
