Anyone know of any A4's that are bored out? (1.8 or 2.8) What are the gains of doing this? And what are some things you gotta do after doing it, im sure there are things you have to recalibrate...?

 

i dont know of any being bored out, but i know for the 1.8 you can get a 2.0 stroker kit

 

You can bore it and get a 1.9 out of it but will need standalone bigger injectors and a differnt turbo because you will be out of it's efficiency, unless you like shifting at 3,500. It's been done if you do a search on http://www.audizine.com/forum/I'm sure you should be able to find something.

 

Theres really no perfomance gain by boring an engine. The only reason it would be done is to true the cylinders during a rebuild. The engine performance is almost the same. So all stock parts would work. You will need new pistons however.

 

well, the performance gain is more surface area and more room for air and fuel. thats y bigger engines are more powerful. there is no replacement for displacement. granted, 1/10 of a letre isnt that much, it is still something, and that something means even something more when getting a bigger turbo and whatnot

not too sure. i guess you could bore out anything, you just need new injectors and programming and such. it temds to be more usefull if you have standalone system or if its an older car. then u just tunr it ad its happty
