bought 2.8tranny for1.8t
ight i bought a transmission out of a 1998 A4 2.8 quattro. it has 45k miles on it and got it for $945. i no ive asked this before but u guys r avbsolutely positive it will be a direct fit to my 1.8t? with a spec lightweight flywheel and spec clutch, both stage 3. hope all goes well. highway driving will be alot better now that i wont be reving like 3700 at 80...
yes, from what ive heard only the 2.8 to 1.8t can be done and 1.8t tranny will not fit a 2.8 motor but the 2.8 motor tranny will fit the 1.8t, dont know why but its been done, theres a DIY on either audiworld or audidiy.
Damn, I want a 2.8 tranny. I really want a S4 tranny, but that may be more work and money than I'm willing to put in.
I'm not 100% sure (hopefully Sean can verify this), but you also use a 1.8t flywheel and clutch for the swap.

I was told the S4 tranny was a bolt in as well.... The flywheel always stays bolted to the crank it's the pressure plate that may have a different spline count, but I was told the bolt up.
