i think this forum is awesome, i've learned a ton about audis in recent weeks thanks to audiforums.com (especially not to ask about bv's). I'm looking to get a b7 A4 QM as early as august or as late as december, currently own a 98 civic (not riced out, bare to the bone stock) and wanting to upgrade. I haven't gone in for a test drive yet, (but I did drive a brand new S4 MT and was blown away by that car) but had a few questions on the sport supsension. just wondering how well the car handles when driven aggressively, and if current owners feel a need to upgrade the sport suspension. I'm wondering if I should forgo the sport and just go straight to aftermarket shocks and springs (preferably coilovers). I've read that it's not prudent to install aftermarket springs with the stock sport suspension so that's not an option. I plan on getting new wheels, 18s or 19s too. I'll probably drive the car pretty hard, but probably not take it to the track. I guess this is a question that I can best answer after I go in for a test drive, but was just wondering what you guys thought. anyone have any experience with newport beach audi? thank you guys...

Sup Jigga! Welcome to the forum!!
The sport suspension was built very well and corners great! It's all up to you on how you like the height because it's not as low as an aftermarket suspension. if you forgo the sport package all together you might want to think about also getting aftermarket sways like neuspeed or H-sport. it'll help your cornering a lot from non-sport and you will feel a difference right away.

RE: which BV? just kidding, newbie with a few Qs
I agree, the sport suspension is very nice and more than adequate if you are not going to track it. If there is a way to lower the ride height without changing springs, I would like to know about that. (This could be done on the C5 Corvette very easily)
I have taken my stock B7 2.0T QM w/Sport on the track and it did very well. Still understeers, but you will have a hard time finding that limit on the street unless you do something stup... er crazy.
What is this about no springs on a B7 with Sport...? Sorry if I missed that thread. Newbie-itus and lazy-nous to search.

i have stock sports suspension with HSport front and rear sway bars and its alrite but could be better but it works unless your a crazy track person
from my limited understanding, if you want to drop your car, the best thing to do is get new suspension and springs. aftermarket springs on stock suspension will wear them (the shocks) in a few months...

The wheels alone is enough reason to forgo the sport suspension... you'll want to lower if you get 19's, definately. Course, if handling is your main concern, 18's are probably better, since 19's are usually heavy (or 1000 a wheel for lightweight 19's). Heavy wheels will make your car handle worse, accelerate slower, and brake longer.
I'm not sure what all the sport pkg includes... can you get JUST sport suspension? will passing on the sport pkg make you lose out on other coolness -- that wouldnt be fixed with coilovers?

get 18s with an aftermarket coilover setup...to help with the understeer you should get an aftermarket rear sway bar, with a stock, non-sport front bar
yeah, after reading through tons of pages of post regarding suspension, I've decided to go sans sport package. I'll go with koni co's and 18s, in that order...thinking about the replica rs4 wheels. I like the super clean look, i'm open to suggestions on wheels too
. another possibility is a black A4 with either all black wheels or gunmetal wheels, so that rules out the replicas. Won't be getting the car for a little while (was going to buy it for myself on my b-day, but I don't think I can waith that long), but I'm getting pumped reading all the posts in this forum and thought I'd plan ahead, short shifter, s4 door blades, tint, chip, exhaust, etc...*sigh*
