Default Brake/Exhaust Upgrade Recommendations.

Hey Guys,
I am now, hopefully very very soon, in the market of upgrading/changing/modding my car (99 2.8 Q). I have to just change a rear wheel bearing, whose sound is driving me crazy and i need 4 new tires, because someone on the forum told me that since I have a Quattro that all my tires be the same. So after that I would like to start on my car.

1. I would like to upgrade my braking system. Guys I am not talking about the $2500 dollars Brake kits, I dont got that kind of $$$$, I would prefer something a bit higher than STOCK but not too high end. I would really appreciate your guys advice on which ones I should get and where I can get the best price. Buy all you guys I mean everyone in the forum, not just the ADMINS (Jest, Brrrman, David)

2. Then after that or at the same time, I would like to upgrade/change my exhaust system. I DO NOT WANT A LOUD ONE!!! ( sorry for the caps). I would prefer one that would give me better performance than STOCK, yet have the same NOISE/LOUDNESS of the stock exhaust system. Again please would really appreciate all your inputs and if you do know where i can get a good system, please provide link.

THanks guys again...

Did you try searching?

My quick 2 cents~ AWE sells a brake upgrade kit for about $500 that has new rotors, pads, and stainless steel brake lines.

As for exhuast~ check out Borla, Milltek, Oettinger, Remus, and my favorite Neuspeed. You really gotta go hear them all to decide which one you like, don't take it from us.

for the B5 2.8's there really aren't many options for catback exhaust systems. Milltek seems to be the most popular and also a good sounding exhaust. i can get you a good deal on those if you want. shoot me an email - IOKEPA at ModSport.com

What kind of price range are you looking at for the brake upgrade?

The AWE Kit (here) is a pretty sweet setup.
RPI Equipped has an $800 kit the upgrades your fronts to 11" Brembo rotors with Wilwood calipers. here

Oh yeah, if you do a search on exhaust systems or sometthing similar, there is plenty of reading material around to help you find your ideal setup. Based off the fact that you want a mellow exhaust note, you may be better off getting it done at your favorite garage. From what I can remember, some people also found it about $200 cheaper also.

Thanks for those...yeah those are nice...especially the RPI equipped ones. I coudlnt get to the AWE ones. cause all of them were like $2000 and over. I just wanted to know if my 99 2.8 Q had the clearence that RPI was talking about. The 15" inch clearence? Also are these brakes for the front 2 or rear 2? Also could i get those for the front and "1.8T&2.8 Rear Upgrade kit to S4 Spec" kit for the rear?

Still Confussed a bit

I'm not sure if you were looking at the right kit. The AWE kit is $500. It upgrades just about everything in your wheel well with the exception of the brake caliper.

As far as the brake clearance for the RPI kit, your best bet would be to call them and ask.
