Default BRAKE light flashing

So today on the way to work on my center console the light that says BRAKE (for e-brake, tip trans) flashed about 6 or 7 times then went away. It has never done this before.

Any ideas why?

I too have experienced the same issue with the brake light flashing. I can pretty much guarantee that it will happen when accelerating quickly from a stopped position and turning right (i.e. turning right from a stop sign). ('02 1.8t) Very interested to know what it is.......

could be a faulty bulb / low fluid level / bad switch on the break peddle / E break button sticking on / worn pads

I have a v6 2.5 tdi avant and it was doing this until I topped up the brake fluid after which time the problem has not arisen again.
Having just checked the brake fluid, I found it to be quite low so it might be an idea to check that first before giving it to a repair shop mechanic.......

well it flashed monday and tuesday, both times while going over some train tracks. went to the store and bought some dot 4 brake fluid an put a little bit in. today, wednesday it didn't light up. i'll have to take a look at my pads later to see if they are getting low.

I looked at the manual about changing the fluid. It was like 20 deg outside and getting dark.So i was in a bit of a hurry but i couldn't find the min-max level on the brake fluid tank. So i wasn't sure what the level was at. I think i'm going to make it a project to bleed and replace my brake fluid once it gets warmer out.

I have this same problem, only mine starting after i changed my brakes at a local garage.

I read in the manual that it should happen when the brake fluid is low, but the people in the garage said everything is fine they have checked it and dont know why it is happening. They said there might be some grease on the sensor or something and it should switch it self off after a few weeks.
Its been 4 months and it still beeps 3 times and constantly flashes when ever i drive it.

Dont want to take it to dealer as they will charge hundreds. I took it to another local garage who couldnt figure out how to stop this either.

Any ideas how to stop this light/sound?
