Default Brake light relay?

Hey Folks,

I have a 01 1.8T and I got a brake light warning (bulb warning not Brake pad). I replaced the bulbs and checked the fuse and everything is fine but I don't have any brake lights. The turn signal, parking lights, reverse lights all work... just not the brake lights. Any thoughts. Is there a brake light relay or something? If so... where would it be located. I've done several searches but I can't seem to figure this one out.

Thanks,
dave.

bad switch on the break peddle look up the peddle and you will see it when you press the break it switches on the break lights, most likely its stuck in so simple job to remove it just unplug it and twist it just drops out

I have to agree its not an uncommom problem and a easy fix. I think the new switch is like 35.

You might want to check with the dealer on this one. I know VW has a recall on the Jetta & New Beetle regarding this issue. Faulty brake switch (located right above the brake pedal). It can get stuck in the ON of OFF position. I've seen it stuck both ways. Not sure if this recall applies to Audi as well. That's the most likely culprit though.
