BRAKE PAD WARNING INDICATOR
AFAIK, the sensors are only on the front pads. Thus, the light would not be from worn pads on the rear. That being said, as the pads wear, the brake fluid level goes down. You will get a low fluid level warning.
Anyway, change the rear pads. It is time.

As I said before, pads were changed 22.5Kmi ago. I'll have my mechanic change the rear pads on Tuesday. I'll also ask him to spray the fronts with brake cleaner spray.
Auditwins you were right. Just returned from my mechanic. My brake pads were OK. I was slightly low on fluid. The fluid hadn't been checked since pad replacement 22Kmi ago. I thought there was a different indicator for fluid and pads. The indicator always appeared when I drove aggressively , moving the fluid around. A 1/2 hour of checking pads and adding fluid cost me $40.00 .
ahh so sorry i do have that reversed i'm going to shut up now also wanted to say that the front pads don't have to be low for the light to come on we have seen the backing plate seperate from the pads causing the light to come on
Having now put brake fluid in, you have lost your early warning of your rear brake pads going.
By the time your brake fluid gets low enough to trigger the warning light your pads are pretty close to worn out. Unfortunately, your next warning is going to be metal grinding at which time you will need pads and discs.
