Here's the scope, looks like my engines bearings are all f.ucking cactus, low oil pressure and a nasty noise like no oil at top end. I have had the oil pan off & checked oil pump (which seemed fine, everything was free moving), there wasn't much thick black sludge at all in the bottom of the pan either. The oil pick had some chunkies in it but nothing that I wouldn't expect out of an engine thats done 87,500 miles. So my diagnosis is the bearings are cactus, which is causing my low oil pressure. So hear comes an overhaul or a new engine.

If anyone has any alternative theories please let me know, it would be much appreciated.

Just to be on the safe side and before you incurr in further expense try switching the oil pump and use a thinner oil such as 5w -30w tell me what happens? now is the noise constant, does the nosie rev up as you accelerate?

Best Wishes
