Default BUYING A 2.8 HELP

i convinved my freind to buy a 97 2.8 with 59k on it, stick(5spd) and its going for 5800. hes convinced that i like it b/c im a audi enthusiast but i actually think its a good deal. well hes gunna buy the car but what are some things he should look for i dunt want him to buy a peice of junk. so all u 2.8 owners what whould he look for before buying the car as far as maintence. im gunna print the car fax tomorrow. help guys

Convincing your buddy to get a 2.8, some friends huh lol j/k. For that mileage its a pretty good deal. Well you already know about the timing belt thing so need to talk about that. Just do a very thorough inspection to make sure everything works. The carfax report and vehicle service documents might help too.

thanks i know the 97 is a 12v do guys recomend maybe getting a 30v instead cuz i did some research theres not much out there aftermarket wise for the 12v's.

For 6K it might be hard to get the 30v or a 1.8T however both would be better than the 12v........

Yea theres really nothing except a supercharger for the 12v. It would be tough to pass up a deal like that. I'd buy it then sell it for a 99.5 1.8T, but thats just me. If he can wait then keep looking for a good deal on a 30v or better a 1.8T.

I may be wrong but I don't think the 12v even gets the super charger....

it gets a custom S/C.. if he is worried about maint. etc.. then the 12v is the best!! it is the most reliable of the A4 engines
