Buying a 2001 Audi A4??????
Hi Im new to this board. I am about to purchase a 2001 Audi A4 V4 1.8 Turbo Quattro automatic. The best price that I found is $9,500. I was just wondering if this was a good price for the car. It has 84,000 miles on it and it is in nearly new condition. I was nver really interested in Audi until not too long ago but I really like this one. I was just wondering if you guys could tell me if this is a good purchase? Also how long do these cars last for approximetely mileage wise? Also what I should look for when purchasing it? What are the common problems with these cars?
9,5 for that seems kinda low. I just bought my 01 a4 fwd sport for about $15g's around 3months ago and it had 64k miles on it. I don't think that 20k more miles would drop the price that much more...
I'd buy Jeff's. He's already got **** done to his and you can't beat having all the service records.

well yeh that price does seem kinda low unless its salvaged/rebuilt title cause i just bout mine 2000 fwd 5 speed 36k miles for 8k so if i were you id go check it outt see whats wrong see if the timing belt was changed before you even think bout buying it.
Even for an auto, that seems a little low. Plus at 84k there's the timing belt issue, so that hasn't been done we're talking about an extra 1-1.5k if you're not DIY.
Check carfax, service records - make sure TB has been done or, if not, be aware that will be a mandatory expense in the (near) future.
Also check control arms service. Has been an issue to several owners and it's no surprise if they need to be replaced at 80k. When test driving it check for a squeaking/clunk sound close to the front wheels when going through bumps on the road. Also if the control arms are failing the vehicle will appear to "wonder around" at high speeds; it feels like you're under heavy wind when you go at 70mph

I got my o1 A4 with 79k, for 12
yours is the same year, more miles, and an auto, i would think around 10 or 11k would be about right, 9500 is an extra good deal (as long as there no hook to it)
