Default Cadillac converters

What’s up Fellaz,
Last week I got the 60,000 mi service done to my car at the Audi dealer. When I picked up my car the guy was telling me that everything was all set…. however they noticed that my Cadillac converters need to be replaced. When he said “replaced” I thought I was gonna faint right there because I knew it would be expensive to replace the converters (about $2,400). But he later told me that the converters are under warrantee and covered by Audi. So that was a huge relief!! I guess my question is, what parts are cover by audi if I have 57,000 miles on my 99’ a4. Hopefully nothing screws up on me, but it would be nice to know. Thanks

The catalitic converter is covered for 8 yrs. or 80000 miles as it is an emmision control device. I believe this is a standard for cat warranties. mine went at about 85000 miles i was pissed the cat cost like $500 and was a PIA to install but your safe with the warranty

its actually catalytic.

I don't have to do emissions tests so I usually just cut the b!tch off and make a test pipe. I couldn't justify paying a $1000 for some crappy "emission" device.

I've never replaced one on an Audi, what makes it a PITA, I'm going to be making my new exhuast as soon as I buy some more MIG wire?

i didn't think your car even needed the catalytic converters,i know this kid who works on his WRX all the time and he said that the WRX has a ton of cats and that if you took them all out you'd gain like 10-20 HP

idk though

Yeah that's really great for the environment. For a track car it's fine, but it's illegal in most places to remove them.

EWWW!!! I'm going to the garage and taking my "cadillac converter" off IMMEDIATELY! I don't want my ride to turn into a cadillac, so I'm taking that thing off! Now if I could find me a "Porsche 959 converter" I'd pay top dollar for that thing, because then it'd be worth it, but going from a audi to a cadillac in my opinion is a step in the wrong direction... Just my .02 (and poking fun!)
