Caliper Paint / Before & After
Thanks for the kind words folks.
I was torn between doing the top carrier and leaving the grey bar and undersides, or doing the entire thing in red and only leaving the bar unpainted.
I still may go back and check for touch-ups and decide to paint the rest of the assembly red.
Kragen.....$16
It's a DupliColor kit. They have them in Black, Red, and Blue.
I used the brush-on kit. No clear coats, no primer.
I washed the calipers, sanded them down in case I missed the tough stuff, washed them again, sprayed on the caliper cleaner and started laying coats.
The stuff dries fairly fast. I'd say about 85% dry in 5 minutes. Once I got to the back, the bottom, and then the nooks and crevices - the top would be dry and I would start with the next coat.
Since I'm self-admittedly OCD, I probably laid about 5-6 coats to make sure I got everything (still missed a few tiny little spots) and had it shiny the way I wanted it.
See above.
I'm 99% sure I'll be joining the gang for lobster.
Looking forward to the next GTG.

1. My Obsessive Compulsive nature almost guarantees that I will have to take the wheel off and do a tiny touch-up to the spots in the black boxes.
2. The rust looking stuff on the rotor wipes right off. That's over-spray from the caliper cleaner.
3. Should I paint the sections where the arrows are pointing in the pic or leave them like they are?

i did paint that area on mine, mine are a bit different tho, i think yours look good as is tho, caliper paint does wonders... ill show you mine if your at the next gtg
It sucks.
I'm kinda' not feeling my own mod......lol.
I did a perfect job, the paint is as good as it's going to be done by anyone using a brush-on kit, but something about isn't working for me.
I think I expected to be a little more wowed by the result, but I'm kind of indifferent towards it.
It doesn't look AMAZING.....it doesn't look DREADFUL......it's just kind of.....there.
Any ideas on removal in case I decide to get crazy?

looks real clean man. i painted the lower bar on mine black instead of red(my car is red with black). i had 10 years worth of brake dust on mine so i used a pneumatic drill and a wire brush to clean them, you might take the paint off the same way if you decide to. i think it looks great tho. and those nicks in the paint are gonna happen unless you go with the powder coat. good job.
