Default Cams

Is there any mild cams out there that I can use with a GT2871r elim? I'm looking for some mild cams to maybe put it. I have my whole engine apart for all kinds of gaskets and maintenance and it would be a nice time to throw in some cams

Have you read that thread? Seems like cams are pointless to me... but i dunno.

Also, unless you have the head off, im pretty sure it would be a huge pain in the *** to switchthe camsout, right?

with the right steps taken, you can switch the cams in only acouple hours with the head on.

not really going to see any gains from cams on a 28 series turbo.. a gt3071 or bigger and you'll be able to utilize them..

might want to look into some N/A 1.8t cams. the way audi engineer's work, there might be something there, but i've never seen anything.

try vortex

cams are going to help keep the tq from falling off. With a gt28 turbin wheel, the rpms arent really long enough for full benifit. Sure you will see some increase, but not as much as with a larger gt30 series turbo. Guessing some mild cat cams (qedpower.com) would only net about 10-20whp.

right. it's really just going to shift the powerband up the rev range a bit.. and with the constricting flow of the elim exhaust housing, i wouldn't see it gaining more than 10whp peak.. if it was a full t25 gt2871r, then i'd suspect maybe 20 or more whp, and would think it would be worth it. but i just don't think it would be worth it for this turbo

ill probably end up going bigger and since i have easy access and one of the cams is already out i though i would just throw in a new set

w/o tuning, your not going to see anything. Plus there will be other cost incurred when install them. Unless you plan on a gt30XX turbo, dont waste your time or money

what other costs are incurred when you put in cams?
