i've been looking into getting a turbo a4...i found one for sale and the guy says it won't pass smog because of the exhaust system, it has turbo back exhaust. is that a legitimate reason for not passing smog or is there probably more wrong with the car that he's not disclosing? thanks

 

if he doesn't have a cat on there then it would be a reason to fail smog

i have a funny story about that. When i had my 25th anniversary 5.0 mustang, it failed emmisions a few times. I heard from one of the techs that since it had high miles, go out and beat the **** out of it for 20 minutes. redline every gear and just go nuts and then bring it back in. I did that and it passes with flying colors! crazy huh! not saying that would work i just thought you all would get a kick out of it. Now in Ohio the Echeck is gone so no worries!

 

it works mate at least in the UK, also another one is something like sea foam you have over there (a fuel system cleaner) just before the test

 

It is probley the cat... I have a 2.5" Cat with literally 30 miles on it.. if he is interested pm me...
